Thank You Bethel Voters!

THE BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT IS ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR A BOND MEASURE IN NOVEMBERWith your help we intend to preserve the investment previous generations have made in our schools and to further improve the educational environment for our kids. The Bethel bond measure is a win-win for our community.
It will not increase the current tax rate, but it willallow for vital, no-frills repairs and upgrades to our schools. These include repairing leaky roofs, replacing failing windows and carpets, installing security systems and modern fire alarm control panels, and adding energy-saving heating controls. In addition, Bethel’s old student textbooks will be updated, and failing school computers replaced (90% of Bethel’s computers are beyond or near the end of their expected life).

The bond will also build much-needed, larger, modern Science classrooms at Willamette High School to accommodate improved instruction. These classrooms will allow for safe science experiments and hands-on lab work and will benefit every Bethel student for generations to come. And Bethel’s two oldest elementary schools, Fairfield and Malabon, will be rebuilt. They were constructed in the post-World War II era and have numerous problems that make renovation not cost-efficient.

And historically low interest rates mean we can accomplish more with our investment if we complete this essential work now. We want to make the most of every single dollar.AGAIN, THIS WILL NOT INCREASE ANYONE’S CURRENT TAX RATEOld bonds are being paid off and the new bond will simply take their place at the same rate. With a YES vote everyone’s current school property tax rates will remain the same as they are right now.
